Joe Weiss strikes it big with a 300 game |

Most bowlers dream of rolling a 300
game but know in the back of their mind that they may never
do it in their life time. Joe Weiss is one of those
bowlers who said it never crossed his mind that he would
even come close to a 300 game. On March 29, 2005 a 180 average bowler Joe
Weiss rolled his dream game with 12 consecutive
strikes for a 300 game. Before last night's action Joe's highest
game was rolled years ago and it was a 278 game. After
struggling in game one with a 180 game Joe was confused on
the lanes. The ball kept coming up high on the head pin and
he tried everything to avoid that. "At the end of
game one I must have moved 4 or 5 times on the lane. In game
two I thought I had
the line but toward the end of that game same old thing the
ball continued to come up high. Finally the start of the 3rd
game I moved left on the approach and took the fingers out
of the ball. I just got to the foul line and dumped the ball
on the lane and it would roll into the pocket. I threw 12
good balls not one ball in that 3rd game came up high."
Joe was asked how he felt as he came to the end of his
perfect game. "I was not nervous until I threw that
1st strike in the 10th frame. After I seen that ball go flush
in the pocket and knock all 10 down in the pit I started to
shake. When you are bowling for a perfect game all you think
about is a ringing ten pin. At this point I came too far to
roll a ringing ten pin. When I got up for my 2nd and 3rd
ball in the 10th I was not sure I would be able to let the
ball off my hand. I was able to overcome my nerves and the
rest is history. I was still shaking and hour after
bowling." Joe had games of 180, 195, and 300 for a
675 series. It was his best series of the season. Joe will
receive an award for bowling 100 pins over his average and also for a
300 high game. Congratulations Joe!! |
